A. Phrasal Verbs: Check it out!

Group 1 – Phrasal Verbs
·       Calm down, Mike. There's no need to yell.
·       The secretary asked me to hold on while she checked her computer.
·       I don't really get along with my boss.
·       After an hour, Mike gave up. He couldn't fix the computer.
·       I want to be a fireman when I grow up.

B. Can you make up a dialogue?
  1. Get in pairs
  2. You have 5-7 minutes to come up with a short dialogue between two people using as many phrasal verbs as possible. Humour is highly encouraged!
  3. Present the dialogue in class. 
  4. Come up with questions for each dialogue using as many phrasal verbs as possible.

Listen to the following song from Madonna and write down the missing words in a separate piece of paper.  Listen to it once following the lyrics below without writing anything down; just listen to the music and try to see if you hear the responses.  Play the video a second time and write down the missing phrasal verbs/words.

D. Are you a good planner? It's party time!

  1. Pair up with another student
  2. Review the following sheet and write down the answers in a separate piece of paper. Be creative and write down a lot of details.
  3. Each party presents their party idea in front of the class.
  4. A representative of each group tells the class WHY their party idea is better, more fun, etc (superlatives/comparatives are highly encouraged!)
  5. Conditionals: the professor will ask you to answer questions such as: what would happen if the food arrives late or never arrives? what would happen if the dj gets sick the night before the party? Remember to answer the questions using the correct conditional form
